Good news and bad

Good news and bad…

We were at Mayo for scans this past Wednesday and Thursday July 26-27th, after being in Cancun at Hope 4 Cancer the week before for a recheck and a few treatments. It was incredibly hot and humid in Cancun… we didn’t even miss our daily sauna sessions at home! We brought home additional supplements and tinctures to implement from H4C and we left there with a renewed sense of hope.

We received some good news and some bad at Mayo so I will start with the good…

Good news: Mike’s CT scan showed a decrease in size in all the lung nodules as well as becoming less dense/solid which is great and means the Gavreto (systemic kinase inhibitor drug) is working. Even though the small blood clots in his left lung are gone, the doctor said Mike needs to stay on the blood thinner for the foreseeable future. This is a bummer because he bleeds very easily and often says “my skin is made of papier-mâché!” 🤣

Now…for the bad news: Two tiny new lesions showed up in his brain MRI, one is 3 mm and the other even smaller. Mayo’s recommendation is a repeat MRI in 6-8 weeks to see if they have grown or if any more appear. In all honesty, we were very sad to hear the harsh reality of his brain scan, especially because we had felt confident that the scans were both going to bring positive news.

However, we continue to put our faith and hope in God. With that being said, we would be so grateful if everyone could pray with us for Mike’s brain. Studies prove that people who are prayed for are so much better off than people who aren’t. Specifically, please pray that no more lesions in his brain (or lungs) appear. Gamma knife surgery can be done again, but they don’t like to do the surgeries so close together, so we really need a clear MRI. They discussed whole brain radiation as another option but we REALLY do not want whole brain radiation, as there are a multitude of irreversible side effects. Thank you in advance for the prayers. ❤️🙏🏼🙌🏼

We are not giving up by any means. We will keep turning over rocks in conventional medicine as well as integrative/holistic medicine. We will also continue to pray and believe in complete healing and perfect health.

We have had a busy, fun summer, making memories with family. We feel very blessed to be able to keep enjoying life! We’ve been to lots of ballgames, swam a lot, took most of the family to Lost Island, boated in Clear Lake, and had a baptism in our swimming pool on July 4th thanks to our long time pastor friend, Peter Mueller, for making it happen. These are the memories that we wouldn’t trade for the world.

I don’t know about you, but I turn to music in difficult times, so I created a playlist on Spotify called Help. I play it pretty much daily and it truly does… help. One of my favorite songs on that playlist is the “God of Possible” by Katy Nichole. I’ll leave you with the chorus, which I sing often and loudly, even though I am not a singer: 🤍

“I pray for your healing, that circumstances would change

I pray that the fear inside would flea in Jesus name

I pray that a breakthrough would happen today

I pray miracles over your life, in Jesus name

in Jesus name.”

Be blessed,

Paula
